    3.5 * really – I love all the eco credentials and I’m moving towards a zero waste lifestyle, BUT this really doesn’t produce as much suds as a regular sponge, and it takes awhile for it to soften and become pliable enough to reach any concave surfaces. Still beats the ball out of the water as far as not ending up as another piece of disposable plastic-derivative in landfills, but it didn’t work out as well as I had hoped for. Sticking with it for now but going to look for alternatives afterwards.

    These are just THE best plastic-free option for dishwashing by hand. The best thing is that they dry quickly so don’t get all smelly and full of germs like the plastic green ones do. They don’t scratch non-stick, they bend enough to get into the corners of pans- what more do you want? :-)

    I’m very pleased with this. First time purchase and I gave a few to eco friendly family. I wasn’t sure how effective or durable it would be but it’s really good – it scrubs in a gentle way – not as scratchy as a metal scourer but as effective as a green plastic one, if that helps! It works gently enough on non-stick tins and quite well on burnt on food but I still use my metal scourer for the worst washing up. It doesn’t fall apart – which I feared – and as it’s quite ‘open’ celled, it dries and therefore doesn’t smell. It’s an expensive product but will last well I feel, and I definitely prefer it to the plastic sponge type.

    The pad itself is a bit on the thin side, and it takes a few days to soften and produce a fine lather. However, I am so glad I am not pouring microplastics down my drains anymore. As always, Save some greens posted it very quickly and in a package that is recyclable or even reusable!

    It’s very practical and multipurpose to use on plates, mugs and non-scratch pans. Unlike some bamboo brushes that doesn’t always fit in smaller items like glass or mugs. It doesn’t make much foam as a synthetic sponge, but it does a good job of cleaning. Best part: it can be composted after use and it does not come in a plastic wrap!

    Takes some getting used to, feels strange to use this instead of a plastic sponge at first, I bought 8 and I’ve come back a year and two months later to stock back up.

    Trimming off the stray strands early stops it from fraying too much, sterilise it often.

    This seems pricey, but knowing that I’m putting less plastic into the ground is well worth the cost. I imagine that the price will come down if more people switch to a sustainable solution.
