We all know how groovy a Wax Wrap is.
No plastic, keeps your sarnies fresh and eventually, you can throw it in the compost to feed the beasties there.
They are also pretty cool and easy to make.
Especially when you have a kit with everything you need all included.
Ta Da!
The Wax Wrap Kit contains:
2 Round cotton sheets (20cm & 30cm)
2 Square cotton sheets (20cm² & 30cm²)
A lovely bar of jojoba and resin infused wax
Greaseproof paper.
To use, simply
- Place a piece of cotton of your choice on greaseproof paper on a tea towel
- Cut or grate the desired amount of Wax from your bar over your cotton
- Cover with another sheet of greaseproof paper
- Iron until the wax is fully melted and use iron to spread wax evenly, all over
- Peel off greaseproof paper and waft wrap to cool and dry
Alternatively, you can also put your greaseproof paper-cotton-wax set-up in a shallow oven pan and melt the wax at max 100C in the oven, or microwave. Keep an eye on it, it will only take a few minutes. Then use a soft brush to spread the wax all over and into your cotton.
Remember: the good thing about this wax is that it stays in the fabric for quite a while. It will also be hard to get off from anything you spill it on.
So, be careful out there.
Wax wraps can be used to safely wrap up all food products; to cover bowls of prepared foods and left overs, to pack snacks and sandwiches for on the go, or to put a festive wrapper on your homemade cookies before gifting them. To name just a few uses.
At the very end of its life, a cotton wax wrap can be composted, leaving no waste on the planet.
The Wax Bar can also be used to touch up older wax wraps.
We even have a few refill bars if you fancy getting even more creative.
