My dentist told me to stop using hard nylon brushes because they were damaging my gums. I’ve been buying these bamboo toothbrushes for a while now. They’re much more eco friendly, although I think (I’m not totally sure!) the bristles aren’t compostable or recyclable. But still so much better than a plastic toothbrush of course! They’re not too expensive – if you order a few at a time, they’re not really any more expensive than a decent plastic toothbrush. Definitely worth it. The packaging is all recyclable. You have to be quite careful how you store these. I find that after a while, they start to taste a little funny, which I worry is the bamboo going a bit bad when the toothbrush has got damp. I could be wrong about that though – they might be fine. But because of that I change them slightly more often than I would have done with a plastic one. They’re still much better than plastic though, so I would definitely recommend them!

I really wanted to get away from plastic toothbrushes and this is the first bamboo toothbrush I’ve tried. The bristles are comfortable and work well, and they don’t seem to be falling out after a week’s use. The handle is the bit that you need to be careful of – or the bit that goes in your mouth. It feels a bit flat and wide, a bit like a lolly stick, and sometimes hits my gums more painfully than I would like. I’m sure I’ll adapt but just be aware that it is not as neat as a plastic version.

I really like these toothbrushes. Perfect for avoiding pressing too hard and for reaching in-between teeth. Gums in-between your teeth might need time to adjust if you’re not used to the interdental sensation, so perhaps every other day before fully transitioning. I’d give it five stars if I didn’t have to sand the bamboo just below the bristles every time I use a new one.

I find the tapered bristles to be effective, and better than many toothbrushes I used in the past. The flat handle is good for two reasons. You can easily write on it to customise it and be able to recognise which toothbrush belongs to which family member. It’s also good for balancing it on a cup, say, to keep the bottom of the handle dry.

This is also the only totally biodegradable bamboo toothbrush I have found that has firm bristles. I originally got a medium bristle one, as I would with a plastic toothbrush, but I found it to be softer than the plastic type, and I much prefer the firmer type.

Really good toothbrush! The bristles are nice and firm and leave your mouth feeling really clean. They last maybe a little less time than a standard plastic toothbrush, but they’re cheaper and I buy them in bulk so it’s far from a problem! Best toothbrush and best deal I’ve ever had.

Great toothbrush. I used to use firm plastic toothbrushes & these are not as firm but are the best of the bamboo toothbrushes I have found. You do get used to them being a little less firm & I believe that is better for your teeth anyway. A different brand had the head snap off with my then 6 year old daughter but she has been using these for about a year now and has had no problems. We use the different coloured bristles (white = normal, black = charcoal) to help identify which brush is whose but we also have fun painting the handle with acrylic paint. The price is also a bonus!

Have been using these for a while now, and love them. I prefer the charcoal to the white bristles as find they last longer and are firmer. I would say, with regards to the firm ratings, the firm is more like medium in plastic brushes. Sadly my last order arrived in a plastic bag, however I contacted Save Some Green and they responded swiftly, apologising and explaining if the original packaging gets damaged then the courier will replace it, so I have raised this with the courier.

I have been buying this brand since 2017 and they are the only ones I have seen with actual bamboo bristles. The medium ones feel somewhere between a soft and a medium nylon bristle, which is why I love them as conventional brushes where always too soft or too hard and nothing in between. Many companies claim that bamboo bristles are not ‘sufficient’ for oral health but I have never had a problem- most people suffer from not knowing the correct techniques for brushing, rather than the brush bristles not being ‘sufficient’.
Suffice to say, these brushes are amazing and are perfect for those who want to be zero waste, compost THE ENTIRE BRUSH and want bristle firmness to be somewhere between soft and medium. You also save money if you buy in bulk, making them the cheapest bust most effective brushes I’ve found!
And as a bonus, the bristles do not ‘splay’ if you have a habit of chewing the brush accidentally while brushing.
