What an interesting day today has become. We have now signed the paperwork and the solar panels are going up. A lot of decisions included to melt your brain. It is incredibly difficult to decide what panels, what supplier, what to spend etc.
I am reminded occasionally that I am a bit of a skinflint, I cannot abide spending more than I need to, to get the job done. False economies are always an issue. Where do you draw the line? Anyway, my solar quotes have fallen from £14,000 pounds, give or take some small change which would get the odd pint or two, to my latest quote of £7,750. Quite a difference. This is down to the good old Conservative government deciding that the law was not applicable to them and cutting the FIT (Feed In Tariff) before the originally assured time.
This caused lots of people including greenies like us and solar business types to be rightfully quite annoyed as it essentially smashed the industry very hard in the downstairs gentleman region. Loads of jobs losses, logistic nightmares with people rushing to get work done. At best an entire industry being knocked on its arse, all in all a bloody nightmare for all concerned.
On the plus side however lots of manufacturers (and solar companies) had been enjoying a pretty high demand on products and were charging a significantly higher rate for the products they install. This helped them earn some nice profit during the pre FIT change. As soon as the news hit, well the prices fell enormously, as you can see from my quote.
Now because the FIT was changed illegally (appeal pending, more taxes wasted) the situation has reverted to one of rather splendid goodness. The Save Some Green panels will be installed this weekend at the higher rate but taking advantage of the lower pricing system meaning faster payback and a nicer return for the future. That will help feed the family for a little longer.
Blimey, Hard work deciding who to use but got there in the end. Roll on Saturday and the install
Tea time we tried a new concoction out. Chilli Chickpeas. Tastes lovely, looks like baked beans.. how it finishes..? you probably don’t want to find out. The recipe will be online shortly.
The reason it isn’t there now? Very simple, this web design lark is not as easy as it looks… frankly pretty difficult and very tiring. Been on here all day and I have a couple of pretty pictures and some funny things on the old email.
